On Friday, February 17, the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, swore in the new director general of the National Geospatial Development Agency (ADE), Odete Semião.
ADE is a body under the supervision of the Minister of Transport and Communications, created in 2020 with the aim of promoting good practices in planning the national territory, as well as managing the National Geographic Information Network, an online platform that allows access to up-to-date data from the various sectors, spatial analysis and the development of technological tools for decision-making.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister referred to the fact that the government wants to maximize efficiency in planning and decision-making based on geospatial evidence. "This is how we expect ADE to take a leading role in the management of geospatial data, information and knowledge to support the formulation of public policies, planning and implementation of our country's structuring programs," said Adriano Maleiane.
For her mandate, Odete Semião intends to transform ADE into a "robust agency, as well as designing the regulatory instruments that will allow it to be functional and respond to the purposes for which it was created". According to the ADE's director general, her mission also involves "maximizing efficiency in planning and evidence-based decision-making, providing a holistic view of the issues affecting communities and improving the monitoring of government performance indicators".
With a Master's degree in Public Administration and a degree in Veterinary Medicine and more than 28 years' experience in Public Administration, Odete Semião has led various areas throughout her professional career, focusing on investment promotion, business development, project analysis and facilitating business links between SMEs and corporate projects. She also has extensive experience in administration, leadership, management of financial and human resources, as well as in the design, implementation and monitoring of integral socio-economic development projects.
From 2011 to the date of his appointment, he coordinated the Space Development Program - Geospatial Development Agency, the unit responsible for promoting Space Development Initiatives (SDIs).
