The first International Restaurant and Catering Conference is being held today in Maputo City, an initiative of the association of professionals in this area, as part of the FIKANI-Mozambique Tourism Fair (2022).

The event will be attended by around 200 people, including managers from the sector and speakers from Portugal, England, France and the Reunion Islands.

Mozambican tourism experts and representatives of institutions such as the National Directorate of Tourism (DINATUR), the National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE), among others, will also take part in the event.

According to the organizers, the aim of the conference is to find answers to the problems facing the restaurant and catering sector.

"We're going to discuss and list solutions so that we can have a guideline for what our purpose is, which is to have a more vibrant restaurant and catering sector than the one we have at the moment," said Aurélio Mausse, president of the Restaurant and Catering Association.

The meeting will specifically discuss the need to introduce a professional card for the sector, employability, competition in the food and beverage sector and other issues related to the tourism and events industry.
