The World Bank (WB) will provide $12 million for reconstruction of several public buildings severely destroyed in Beira City when Cyclone Idai hit in March 2019, an official source said.
The work will start later this year, according to the executive director of the Post-Reconstruction Cyclone Reconstruction Office (GREPOC), Luís Mandlate.
These are the Provincial House of Culture, the Provincial Justice and Labor Service, the 1st Civil Registry Office, the Provincial Library, the 1st Notary Office, the Sports Pavilion, the National Public Rescue Service, the Regional Emergency Public Warehouse, the Sofala Secretary of State's Office, and the Provincial Directorate of Public Works, Housing, and Water Resources.
According to the source, the amount will also be applied to 37 other projects in the districts of Nhamatanda, Dondo and Búzi and 21 projects located in the province of Cabo Delgado, all affected by storm Kenneth in 2019.
