The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) thwarts an attempt to illegally sell weapons in Moamba district, Maputo province. It is about two firearms, being one of the AKM type with 32 ammunition and another one of the shotgun type. The AKM-type weapon was on course to be sold at 40,000 meticais.

The SERNIC spokesman in Maputo explains that in connection with the case, three individuals are in custody, indicted for the crime of possession of prohibited weapons.

Henrique Mendes explains that the arrest of these individuals is the result of a multi-sector operation to fight organized crime.

He said that the provenance of the weapons found in the possession of these individuals is not yet known with certainty. (RM)
