A 49-year-old citizen is on the account of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) accused of sexually violating eight underage children in Mandimba district, Niassa province.

The age of the victims varies between 11 and 13 years old, and they were lured with sweets, cookies, and even money, 10 meticais.

The indicted pedophile is the Secretary of Abdala district and committed the acts in a local swampy area. He confirmed the charges and told the press that he was seduced by the physical characteristics of the victims.

The spokeswoman for the PRM provincial command in Niassa said that the situation was denounced by the community authorities last week following a complaint made by one of the victims.

However, the complaint would have been made because other victims were reported missing until search diligences conducted by PRM.

"We call on everyone to report cases of sexual rape and other criminal acts so that the police can promptly respond," said Mirza Maguanda, .
