The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said today in Vandúzi district, Manica province, that in Cabo Delgado province there are no jobs and that many young people who go there "disappear".
"You must not be deceived that there is work in Cabo Delgado. There is work here in the machamba. There are small factories that are producing macadamia and sesame. There is a lot of work here in Manica," said Nyusi, quoted by Radio Mozambique.
Nyusi thus urged the young people of that city to refuse false job offers, which, in fact, are recruitment strategies to serve terrorism in the north of the country.
"So don't deceive yourselves, because those who were deceived, many are not coming back and nobody knows where they are. And some are already coming back alone to give themselves up," Nyusi said, advancing that there are members of the terrorist groups in Manica to recruit young people.
"They're just having a lot of problems here. They're not getting it," said the President calling for vigilance and seriousness.
On the other hand, Filipe Nyusi encouraged the local population to expand the cultivated areas for increased food security and family income.
"We will continue to produce and produce a lot. When someone feels hungry they steal, kill or invent other problems. So we're going to keep producing. When we produce, we'll be able to eat and reserve [the production] for the year when it won't rain well," he explained.
The President was speaking moments after inaugurating the Manica Judicial Court building.
Also this Friday, President Nyusi will address, in the city of Chimoio, the Joint Session of the Council of State Representation Services and the Provincial Executive Council.
