The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) has just arrested a Mozambican citizen in possession of 300 kgs of cannabis sativa, known as suruma, in the district of Maringue, Sofala province.
The arrested suspect is a farmer and it seems that he was involved in drug cultivation in that district.
According to the director of the Sofala Office for Combating Drugs, António Semendes, the detainee is one of those responsible for most of the cannabis that reaches the city of Beira.
The source that is quoted by RM says that, diligences are underway for the seized drugs to be incinerated, until next week.
