The number of public maize producers in Mozambique did not change, between 2016 and 2020, according to data contained in a report presented today in Maputo.
However, there was a slight increase in the number of rice and soybean seed breeders and a reduction in the demand for cowpea seeds.
It was noted, during the same period in reference, an increased involvement of the public sector for the development of seeds of corn, rice, nhemba beans and soybeans.
This information was released as part of a meeting of the African Seed Access Index (TASAI), a seed industry research program.
