Entitled "The Appearance of Time", the exhibition by national artist Gonçalo Mabunda was inaugurated last June 21, with the special participation of Portuguese artist Francisco Vidal, in a concept that extols the value of artistic manifestations giving vent to the expression of the senses represented through elements that make up the history of the works.
The exhibition, organized by Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in partnership with Absa Bank Mozambique, promotes the encounter between people with distinct expressions, who move from sculpture to painting, and juxtapose creations that intersect in experiences and cubist inspirations that are distinguished by the singularity of artistic paths.
On the occasion, the Managing Director of Absa Bank Mozambique, Rui Barros, noted that the Bank has always invested and continues to invest in supporting the culture and development of Mozambican art as well as the growth of its identity.
"It is indeed with great pride that we repeatedly come to this space, and not only that, we have our own space where we promote our local art, we give opportunities to young people because they are the future of our country. We love to see this symbiosis between different cultures, thoughts and forms of artistic expression that are found in these beautiful pieces of art that we can appreciate in the exhibition. We are very proud to be part of this initiative and we reiterate our commitment to support culture and art in Mozambique, because with this we support the national identity and consequently the crossroads and ties that exist between different cultures," said Barros.
For his part, the Ambassador of Portugal in Mozambique, António Costa Moura, said "we praise the meeting of several languages, expressions, paths and messages. This moment will certainly help us to dive in and understand what they want to tell us with 'O Apetrechar do Tempo', they are several nuances that can be considered in an infinite field of reflection. We thank the key players involved in the exhibition, for they prioritize the exaltation of culture and its access, to the promotion of language and sharing. We are convinced that the feeling of universality of art hangs firmly in the spirit of the actions of all those who make efforts so that our culture can become an asset for us and for future generations.
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Edelvina Materula, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Francisco André, among other individuals.
O Apetrechar do Tempo" will be available to the public, free of charge, until August 31 at the Camões Gallery - Portuguese Cultural Center, from Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 5pm.
