Programa Brilho dynamizes access to energy for 300,000 families

The representative of the Shine Program, an initiative that deals with renewable energy in Mozambique said this Friday, that the number of families with access to energy thanks to the initiative has been increasing in recent years.

According to Javier Ayala, a total of 300,000 Mozambicans already use energy off the public grid, through solar home electrification systems promoted by the program he represents.

"Since we started, we have already benefited 300,000 Mozambicans and we intend to cover two million by 2024," said Javier Ayala, representative of the Shine program, on the sidelines of a ceremony to present the results.

Running for five years, the program wants to accelerate access to off-grid renewable energy in Mozambique through solar home systems and green mini-grids for electrification.

According to data advanced by the program's representative, there are about 180,000 solar home systems installed in the country, 50,000 of which through the Shine program, which represents 60% of the target set by the Government.

However, the government, through the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, believes that this increase in the number of households with access to clean energy will have a positive environmental impact.

According to data advanced on the spot, there are about 180,000 solar home systems installed in the country, 50,000 of which through the Shine program, which represents 60% of the target set by the Mozambican government.
