Maputo province expects to reach an overall production of 122 billion meticais this year, with projection of own revenue collection of 76.3 billion meticais, an estimated growth of 7.8% compared to last year.
The Maputo Provincial Executive Council (CEPM) has defined as main objectives to improve the supply and quality of public services, as well as to raise the capacity to manage the environment, with the promotion of orderly occupation of the land.
According to the 2022 Economic and Social Plan (PES) cited by Notícias, approved by the Provincial Assembly, the goal is to ensure food security with the production of 4.3 million tons of various products, a growth of 3.6%.
According to the document that guides the operationalization of the Government's Five-Year Program, the expected revenues will be largely influenced by the Agriculture, Fisheries, Land and Environment, Transport and Communications, including Public Works sectors.
In the Education sector, the provincial government plans for this year to purchase 240 school desks that will benefit 1440 students; to introduce evening classes in the secondary schools of Bili and Chinonanquila, in the district of Boane.
It is also planned to open three new elementary school, two in Manhiça district and one in Matutuíne. Five secondary schools will also be opened, one in the district of Boane, three in Matola and one in Manhiça.
To strengthen the capacity to assist the province's schools, the Maputo government plans to hire 627 teachers, of whom 368 will be level four (N4), 140 N3, and 119 N1, representing an increase of about 45%. Also to be hired are 208 literacy teachers who will assist 3640 literacy students, of whom 2254 are women.
In the area of Health, it is intended to maintain this year the coverage of institutional deliveries at 60%, with the goal of assisting 103,632 parturients, as well as to maintain the coverage of fully vaccinated children at 100%, vaccinating 61,164 petites.
The rate of TB notifications will also be increased from 313 in 2020 to 368 per 100,000 population in 2022, and the coverage rate of ART in pregnant women will be increased from 99 to 100% this year.
The cure rate for children treated for acute malnutrition will increase from 85 to 90% by 2022.
