Mais 1000 caixas de ovos incinerados pelas autoridades

More than 1000 boxes of chicken eggs were incinerated today in Maputo province, Moamba district, by the authorities.

The eggs were smuggled from neighboring South Africa, where avian flu broke out.

These are eggs that have been removed from different markets in the cities of Maputo and Matola, following close monitoring to prevent the spread of this disease.

Maria Machicoa, a delegate from the Tax Authority in Maputo province, was quoted by Radio Mozambique as saying that the products were seized following anonymous reports of illegal entry of eggs and chickens across the Ressano Garcia border.

South Africa is known to be facing one of the worst bird flu outbreaks since 2017, according to the South African Poultry Association.
