Some public institutions in Tete province may be held liable in court for misapplication of emergency funds in the context of covid-19.
The irregularities include the direct adjustment for the provision of services and the acquisition of goods, without proper justification and the payment of per diems to ineligible individuals.
The director of the Provincial Services of Economy and Finance, in Tete, said that the emergency nature of the situation was not a premise for non-compliance with the regulations.
Luís Bongice did not advance with the details of the matter, limiting himself to advance that the process is going through its legal procedures. Several state institutions in Tete benefited from covid-19's emergency fund, especially the Social Action, Education, Health, and Public Works sectors.
