Coral Norte: Italy praises Mozambique's decision and foresees new investments

Coral Norte: Itália elogia decisão de Moçambique e prevê novos investimentos

The Italian Ambassador to Mozambique, Gabriele Annis, today in Maputo, welcomed the decision of the Mozambican government authorizing Rovuma Venture, led by the Italian oil company Eni, to explore for natural gas, through the Coral Norte FNLG project, in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin, in the province of Cabo Delgado.

According to Annis, the North Coral offshore project doubles the South Coral investment, to the tune of seven billion euros. And by replicating the experience gained in Coral South, "the construction of the floating platform will be faster".

"The Italian government and Eni have welcomed this approval, which strengthens our presence in the country. It's a sign that both parties will see even greater financial benefits from the project in the years to come," he said.

But also, for the diplomat, the Executive's decision is an indication of the greater interest in creating a favorable business environment for new foreign investments to enter the country.

In this regard, he said that in the countries where there are Italian investments, there is a growth of companies around the projects.

Gabriele Annis was speaking to journalists in the Port of Maputo on the occasion of the passage through the country of the frigate Luigi Rizzo, the signing of a cooperation agreement yesterday between the Italian Military Navy and the Armed and Defense Forces of Mozambique.
