The Association of National Liberation Struggle Combatants (ACLLN), one of the governing bodies of Frelimo, Mozambique's ruling party, proposes the ideal profile of a presidential candidate, stressing that he or she must have a clean past and a grasp of the country's major issues.
The ideal profile was made known yesterday (05), by the Secretary General of the ACLLN, Fernando Faustino, at the opening of the third ordinary session of the Frelimo Central Committee, the body that has the mission of proposing the election of candidates for deputies to the Assembly of the Republic, heads of lists, and members of the Provincial Assemblies.
"From the ACLLN's point of view, the Frelimo candidate, in addition to charisma, balance, thoughtfulness, perseverance, cunning and intelligence to bring together good ideas, must be a figure with pragmatism and mastery of the country's major issues, taking into account the current challenges. He must be a candidate with a clean past," said the secretary-general of the ACLLN.
Cited by AIMFernando Faustino stressed that the candidate must be a figure who inspires confidence among the comrades and the Mozambican people in general, a figure who knows the history of Frelimo and its heroes, and who is capable of promoting the identity of the political formation they use, based on its memory and ideology.
"A candidate with the ambition to win and a focus on valuing achievements," he said.
The ACLLN warns that Frelimo's future choice should not waste his time trying to invent the wheel, because it has already been invented, and should only focus on bringing new solutions to the country's challenges without destroying the gains already made.
