The President and interim Secretary General of Frelimo, Daniel F. Chapo, visited the former statesman Armando Emílio on Tuesday.
At the meeting, they will have discussed the issues of the day, including the upcoming general elections, for which Chapo is the party's candidate.
As a reminder, Chapo came to prominence as a public manager under Armando Guebuza. During Guebuza's last term, Chapo was appointed Administrator of Nacala, in Nampula province. He had previously worked as a conservator. He was then transferred to administer the district of Palma. Under the current President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, he was Governor of Inhambane for eight years.
In his presentation speeches in the Mozambican provinces, Chapo has shown some interest in listening to those most experienced in running the country and his own party. And, to reflect his words, a strategic visit falls in the eyes of the electorate as the dots.
However, can this "visit" also be inferred as a step towards rethinking leadership prisms contrary to those imposed on the Mozambican people during Frelimo's last two terms in office?
