Winter swimming championships bring together more than 300 athletes in the Mozambican capital

The Maputo City Winter Swimming Championship kicks off today, Friday (19), at the Zimpeto Olympic Swimming Pool. The event, which will last until the 28th of this month, will be held in two phases.

The championship will bring together a total of 350 athletes from the clubs Ferroviário, Costa do Sol, Desportivo, Golfinhos, Naval, Barracudas, Tubarões, Marítimo and the teams assigned to the Zimpeto Swimming Pool and the American School of Maputo.

According to the newspaper Notícias, the first phase, which starts today and ends on Sunday, will involve the training levels, namely pre-initiates, initiates and children. The second, to be held from the 26th to the 28th, will cover the absolute level, namely juniors, juniors and seniors.

The training championship will include nearly 200 athletes. The first day, which will take place between 2 and 4 p.m., will feature the 100-meter backstroke for pre-schoolers, beginners and children, in both sexes, and the 800 freestyle for mixed children.

The second day, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, will see the 50 butterfly pre-start, start and children's races in the morning, and the 400 freestyle pre-start and children's races in the afternoon.

The third (final) round, which will take place on Sunday, will include the 50 freestyle prelims, prelims and prelims, in the morning, and the 100 butterfly prelims and prelims, in the afternoon.
