The President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo, in the use of the powers conferred on him by the Constitution of the Republic, has appointed, by Presidential Order, Benvinda Levi to the post of Prime Minister..
Benvinda Levi was an advisor to the former President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, a position she held since 2015, and in September last year she was appointed a member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
Benvinda Levi was also Minister of Justice from 2008 to 2015, having headed the Legal and Judicial Training Center and served as a judge at the Maputo City Court.
Daniel Chapo also appointed the following ministers, using the powers conferred on him by Article 159(2)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic:
- Cristóvão Artur Chume to the post of Minister of National Defense;
- Paulo Chachine as Minister of the Interior;
- Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas to the post of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation;
- Carla Alexandra Oreste do Rosário Fernandes Loveira to the post of Minister of Finance;
- Inocêncio Florentino José Impissa to the post of Minister of State Administration and Civil Service;
- Roberto Mito Albino to the post of Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries;
- Salim Ismael Valá to the post of Minister of Planning and Development;
- Estevão Tomás Rafael Pale to the post of Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy;
- Basilio Zefanias Muhate as Minister of Economy;
- Américo Muchanga for the post of Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation;
- João Jorge Matlombe to the post of Minister of Transport and Logistics; and
- Ussene Hilário Isse for the post of Minister of Health.
