Russia has extended its Mariupol school year by a few more months for the Ukrainian city of Mariupol so that students can study the Russian curriculum. The Russians have extended their school year in that region until September 1, according to the advisor to the Ukrainian mayor in Mariupol.
"Its main goal is to 'de-ucranize' schoolchildren and prepare them for the Russian curriculum they will have to take on in the coming school year," Petro Andriushchenko said Tuesday.
The official also said that Russia intends to deploy nine schools, but for now, "they only got 53 teachers - this is a good illustration of Russian education in Mariupol under Russian occupation."
The Russian Army deploys its administrations and organizational systems in the Ukrainian regions it has occupied since the invasion.
Mariupol, on the Azov Sea coast, was the last major city to be militarily conquered by the Russians after a long siege that left the city virtually destroyed and its population exhausted, plunged into a severe humanitarian crisis.
