The Machipanda border crossing in the province of Manica, which links Mozambique to Zimbabwe, is experiencing an intense influx of tourists entering the country on the occasion of Easter.
The main destinations for visitors, most of them Zimbabweans, are the cities of Chimoio, Beira and Vilankulo.
According to Yolanda Frechou, the head of the Tourism Department at the provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism in Manica, quoted in a publication by the Radio MozambiqueThe aim of the Welcome campaign is to publicize the tourist and cultural potential of the area to visitors.
"Manica has enviable potential. We don't have a beach but we do have impeccable beauty. It's worth visiting Manica. We have tilapia fish here, which many tourists love, and more traditional dishes. This campaign takes place twice a year, at Easter and Christmas," she said.
For this Easter season, the province of Manica has registered more than 3,800 reservations.
