The Prime Minister says that the challenges of urbanization in the country require an intersectoral approach and effective coordination between the different levels of governance.
Adriano Maleiane defended this position at the closing of the Second National Urban Forum that took place last week, Thursday and Friday, in Maputo, under the theme: Urbanization, a priority for sustainable development.
Maleiane stressed that in order to ensure sustainable, equitable, and inclusive urban development there is a need to ensure the capacities of local and national public institutions.
The Prime Minister said that the contributions and recommendations coming out of the Forum should be the starting point for the identification of strategic lines for the elaboration of a National Urban Policy.
The Second National Urban Forum was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure of Cape Verde and the Regional Director of UN-Habitat, as guests of honor, in addition to the Presidents of Municipalities, provincial governors, among others.
