New York Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a $500 million investment in offshore wind energy, including manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain, reads the Portuguese-language news site e-Global.
The state plans to develop 4,300MW of offshore wind power, representing almost half of New York's 9,000MW goal by 2035.
According to the website, Along with the $500 million New York State will launch its next offshore wind power procurement as early as this year, 2022, which could result in at least 2 GW of new projects.
"With this investment, New York will be able to lead the nation in offshore wind production, creating green jobs for New Yorkers and fueling our clean energy future," Governor Hochul reported during her speech.
