Nampula/Angoche: Eni completes drilling of first hydrocarbon well

Italian oil company Eni has completed the drilling of its first hydrocarbon well in the A-5 A area, off the Angoche district in Nampula province.

The NewsThe drilling rig, hired by the concessionaire for the area, has already left the site. The borehole has been named Raia-1, and its depth has not been revealed.

The President of the Board of Directors of the National Petroleum Institute said that it was premature to announce the results of the survey because they were still being evaluated.

Drilling began in April this year, after an assessment of its oil potential culminated in the identification of the Raia prospect.

Nazario Bangalane said, however, that the Italian oil company still has time to carry out further research if the need arises.

The consortium operating Area-5 A includes Eni Mozambico S.p.A, with 49.5% of the shares, Qatar Energy Mozambique, Limitada with 25.5%, Empresa Moçambicana de Hidrocarbonetos with 15%, and Sasol Petroleum Mozambique Exploration com, Lda with 10%.
