Mozambique to drill four more oil exploration wells by 2023

The National Petroleum Institute (INP) guarantees that it will open four more wells for oil prospecting and production next year, within the areas awarded under the fifth tender for this purpose.

The tender covered the maritime area (east) of the Rovuma Basin, the Zambezi Delta, the area around the Pande and Temane and Palmeira concessions. The tender made 15 blocks available, covering a total area of 76,800 km², writes "Notícias".

The information was provided by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, during the presentation of the Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE) for 2023, according to the newspaper.

Tonela was speaking during the 19th plenary session of the Development Observatory, a consultative and participatory forum involving the government and national and international cooperation partners.

PESOE 2023 also foresees the resumption of construction work on two Area-1 onshore LNG platforms in the Rovuma Basin in Cabo Delgado.
