The Geological Mapping Project, started in 2019, in the Lúrio belt, in the provinces of Nampula and Niassa, reveals a potential for the occurrence of various mineral resources, with emphasis on orogenic gold.
This is basic information to guide investors in the mining sector in Mozambique, who now have documents to guide any initiative linked to the exploration of different types of minerals that occur in that region, such as precious or semi-precious stones, gems, among others.
The mapping was the first step in producing the geological sheets of an area of unknown potentiality, requiring, from now on, more detailed studies to ascertain the quantities existing in the deposits.
According to AIM, the results were released a few days ago in Maputo by the international mining geological consulting consortium that carried out the mapping, led by the company Chrstoph Bobmeter, during the workshop for the dissemination of results of the Geodata component in the gas and mining sector.
"From the mapping done, there are foci of mineralization that can be developed in an organized way. I'm not talking about garimpo, I'm talking about technically oriented small-scale activity. Unfortunately, of the 25 sheets that needed to be produced, we only managed 10," said the consultant.
