Another businessman has been kidnapped in Maputo. According to information received by MZNews, he is a businessman by the name of Sanjay, who owns a business selling various T-shirts.
According to a video circulating on social media, the kidnapping took place inside his own store in the city of Maputo, in broad daylight, when three armed men entered the businessman's store.
It was at this point that one of the kidnappers, who was pretending to want to buy some product, pulled out a pistol and jumped from the counter to the other side of the store and dragged the victim with the help of his other accomplice to the car at the entrance of the store, and then fled.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique have yet to comment on the case.
The Attorney General of the Republic, Beatriz Buchili, said that the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) is "very concerned" about the wave of kidnappings that in recent years has turned into a fearsome organized crime syndicate.
This concern does not seem to be translated into concrete action to combat this evil, which is growing by leaps and bounds and has been for many years.
Recently, a 47-year-old businesswoman who had been kidnapped returned to her family, without police intervention, after four months in captivity.
