The President of Brazil, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, who has been visiting Ethiopia since yesterday, 16.02, will give the opening speech on Saturday at the 37th Ordinary Summit of the African Union (AU).
Lula da Silva's presence at the AU summit clearly shows that the African continent is a priority for Brazil, as the Brazilian President himself has stressed in his speeches.
As well as attending the AU Summit, Lula da Silva is scheduled to meet the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmmoud Abbas, in the Ethiopian capital.
According to the international press, Lula will stress in his opening speech the convergences he has with the African continent, which are also reflected in the priorities of the Brazilian presidency at the G20, the group of the world's 20 largest economies, to which the continental organization has been admitted as a member.
In these two bilateral meetings, the conflict in Gaza will be on the table, and Lula will once again reinforce the call for an end to hostilities, the immediate release of hostages by Hamas and the defense of an economically viable Palestinian state.
