The Cahora-Bassa Hydroelectric Plant (HCB) is on its way to becoming a regional benchmark in the sale of surplus electricity in southern African countries.
The action, according to Rádio Moçambique, is due to the fact that HCB is one of the companies listed on the Southern Africa Power Pull electricity exchange, with a considerable number of surpluses sold in the SADC region.
Quoted by the broadcaster, the Chairman of HCB's Board of Directors, Tomás Matola, said that the surpluses listed on the stock exchange are also sold to other countries.
Five generator sets are installed at the HCB dam, producing four hundred and fifteen megawatts of electricity. (RM)
