The government has just started charging user fees to the companies that are exploring the areas along the Mozambican coast and the maritime space up to 200 miles from the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), according to an official source.
Leonid Chimarizene, spokesman for the National Institute of the Navy (INAMAR-IP) said quoted by Notícias Online that a legal instrument on the maritime private space has already been approved, as a way to ensure proper collection and contribute to revenue collection for the state coffers.
According to the source, the sea has great opportunities in many ways, hence the need to organize this maritime space.
Chimarizene appealed to the institutions that make use of the maritime space to make due compensation for its use.
