Government and unions evaluate proposal for new working hours in the Civil Service

Governo e sindicatos avaliam proposta de novos horários de trabalho na Função Pública

The civil service and other high-impact sectors may undergo changes in working hours to allow for greater mobility in the Greater Maputo metropolitan region.

In fact, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce submitted the proposal for the new timetables and it was considered on Monday (05) by the Labor Consultative Commission (CCT), which includes the government, trade unions and employers.

The idea had already been voiced this year by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala.

The expectation with the change in the start and end times of working hours is that it will lead to better results for the public passenger transport system.

According to Notícias, the Central Trade Union Organization of Mozambique, Consilmo and the Confederation of Economic Associations consider it premature to move forward with the measures due to the complexity in practical terms and their applicability.

CTA believes that the informal sector, which makes up 90% of the country's workforce, will be little impacted by the changes as they will affect the formal sector of activity.
