Government says the country is taking the right steps to promote green transportation

Governo diz que o país está a dar passos certos na promoção de transporte verde

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, said today in Maputo that the country is committed to promoting green transport and that this is the way forward.

"The green revolution is already the irreversible movement and it's an imperative of modern life, of sustainable life, of safe life, and it's the future we want," said Magala.

According to the minister, in this new approach to the energy transition, Mozambique stands out because of its potential, which gives the country a privileged position as a source of clean energy that can play a cardinal role in decarbonizing the SADC economy and the world.

The minister recalled that in November 2023 the country approved the energy transition strategy, developed to deliberately direct the development of the country's energy sector in order to ensure a fair, balanced and inclusive transition.

In detail, Magala, who was speaking on the sidelines of the presentation of the first protocol-electric car of the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, said that the strategy aims to promote the use of green transportation. In other words, "transportation that facilitates greater mobility using electricity from clean energy produced through solar, hybrid and wind sources, among others," said the minister.
