Galp launches new brand to boost solar panel sales

Galp Solar is the company's new brand to accelerate sales of solar panels. The new brand will take on the 4000 photovoltaic energy customers for self-consumption that was previously in charge of its subsidiary ei energia independente, which was launched a year ago.

"Joining forces with Galp is a huge opportunity to explore synergies that allow us to build a more decarbonized economy and to offer increasingly complete, innovative and competitive solutions to our customers," says Ignacio Madrid, CEO of Galp Solar quoted by Eco Online.

The photovoltaic systems installed now integrated in Galp Solar represent an installed capacity of more than 11 MW, which will allow an estimated reduction of 98 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent.

"The relationship we have with energy, as companies or private consumers, is changing at an admirable speed," says Teresa Abecasis, Galp's executive director and COO Commercial. "Through Galp Solar, we gain the agility and simplicity to develop more flexible, integrated and innovative services on the way to a more prosperous and cleaner world that progresses and moves in the right direction," she adds.

According to the company, producing one's own energy allows savings of up to 40% in the residential sector and 30% in the business sector.

The Portuguese company Galp is currently the third largest producer of photovoltaic energy on the Iberian Peninsula, with an installed capacity in operation of more than 1 GW, in a total portfolio of 4.7 GW that includes projects under development in Spain, Portugal, and Brazil. The company aims to reach 4 GW in operation by 2025 and 12 GW by 2030.
