The government has announced that it will make a final decision on the operation of tolls following a study into the future of tolls in different parts of the country.
"The study has been completed. There are already concrete proposals on how to deal with the issue of tolls and the government just needs to make a final decision," said government spokesman Inocêncio Impissa.
The government spokesman was speaking this Friday in Maputo at the executive's usual weekly press conference.
"I believe that the government will soon take a position, but the detailed work that the sector was doing, both the Transport and Logistics sector, has been completed," said Impissa.
According to the source, the work done by the government involved various players in the process, including hauliers, toll managers, "but also those who are now qualified to deal with tolls," he said.
It should be remembered that the collection of tolls has been suspended since December last year, as a result of the post-election demonstrations called by the former presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane. At the time, several tolls were vandalized, even after a failed attempt by the government to resume toll collection.
