Frelimo in Maputo City accuses PODEMOS, which supports Venâncio Mondlane's presidential bid, of having resorted to ballot box stuffing to win the General Elections, held last week.
Speaking to the press to proclaim himself the winner of the General Elections in the country's capital, Frelimo's first secretary in Maputo city, António Niquice, said that there had been several cases of ballot boxes being stuffed to favor other parties, but it had been in vain, because "Frelimo, in this process in the country's capital, had over 53% for its candidate Daniel Francisco Chapo".
"We have seen many filling processes in favor of other parties. We want to believe that there was manipulation of public opinion in this process. In the city of Maputo, we had the opportunity to see that some of the opposition tried to manipulate this information in order to give the impression that there was some Frelimo involvement in this process. In this filling process, the videos that are available show that PODEMOS was doing this. We're not going to get into that debate, because it's up to the electoral bodies and the bodies that regulate the process," accused António Niquice, in a publication in the newspaper "The Country".
