Today, Monday, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will rule on the state's lawsuit in London against Credit Suisse over hidden debts..
A MEF press release states that the two entities will hold a press conference in Maputo "on the Mozambican state's lawsuit in London involving Credit Suisse".
The start of the trial of Mozambique's hidden debts case in the British courts is scheduled for today, Monday, in London, but is uncertain due to the appeal over Filipe Nyusi's immunity and the possibility of an out-of-court settlement.
The trial is the culmination of almost four years of litigation in the British courts, to which the African country appealed alleging bribery, conspiracy to defraud by unlawful means and dishonest assistance to cancel debts and claim financial compensation worth millions of dollars.
But on Friday, the Court of Appeal allowed the shipping group Privinvest to appeal against a decision that had granted Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi immunity from this case.
"Whether or not the trial should be adjourned must therefore depend on whether any party requests it and, of course, on the judge's considered opinion as to whether such an adjournment should be granted. That is for him to decide," said Judge Elizabeth Laing in her ruling.
