Demobilized "stone and mortar", they reiterate that Ossufo Momade is no longer Renamo's leader

Desmobilizados de “pedra e cal”, reiteram que Ossufo Momade já não é líder da Renamo

The demobilized members of Renamo under the DDR reiterate that they no longer recognize Ossufo Momade as the leader of the largest opposition party in Mozambique. The former Chief of General Staff, Timosse Maquinze, reiterated that the position of the combatants remains intact and that they do not recognize Ossufo Momade as the leader of Renamo.

According to the demands of the demobilized led by their former chief of general staff, Ossufo Momade, who is accused of creating death squads within Renamo, the party will not be able to run with dignity in the next elections.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Evidências portal, even with the decision of the militants led by Thimosse Maquinze, Ossufo Momade remains stone and mortar in the leadership of Partridge. In the opinion of the demobilized, this is a violation of the decision taken on April 15.

"We reiterate that Ossufo Momade ceased to be president on April 15. Regarding the trips he continues to make as party leader, he is violating the decision we have already taken. He is no longer president. Renamo is without a president. We are still in contact to hold an extraordinary congress to elect a new president," Timosse Maquinze told Evidências.

For Renamo's senior staff, there is a need for dialog to promote understanding between the parties at odds.
