A new wave of terrorist attacks has forced the closure of 40 schools in the Chiúre district of Cabo Delgado, bringing the total number of schools closed to 157, out of the 978 in existence..
The information was provided by the provincial Director of Education and Human Development, Ivaldo Quincardete, who stressed that 821 schools are currently operating.
"The district with the biggest focus, for now, is Chiúre, followed by Macomia with 35 schools that are closed," he explained, quoted by the Radio Mozambique.
Meanwhile, Ivaldo Quincardete made it known that the education sector is monitoring the situation of pupils from the Chiúre district, who have been taken in by the neighboring Eráti district in Nampula.
