The former German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has reportedly left in "bain-marie" a work proposal addressed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), the Portuguese António Guterres.
The announcement was made by the former German chancellor's office, which did not say which functions were proposed by the UN SG, reports rtp.
According to some international news agencies, Guterres' proposal suggests that Merkel lead a "high-level advisory council" on how to develop and manage global public goods such as the oceans and ozone layer.
According to the political portal, Angela Merkel is still evaluating Guterres' proposal. Merkel would be following up on Guterres' report "Our Common Agenda", published in September, writes the portal.
On the other hand, some diplomats in the organization would like to see Merkel lead the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This body is responsible for managing climate treaties and organizing Climate Conferences.
When she retired from active political life a month ago Angela Merkel said she was going to devote herself to writing her memoirs.
