Students who transition from grade 6 and those who failed grade 7 in the current school year will be integrated into Secondary Education in 2023, as part of the implementation of the new National Education System Law (SNE).
The information was provided by the Director of Social Affairs Services in Maputo City, Artur Dombo, stressing that due to the introduction of grade 7 in the secondary subsystem 28 elementary school in Maputo City will be transformed into basic education establishments, teaching up to grade 9.
"It is true that only nine schools are approved, another 19 are still in the evaluation process to align in response to the avalanche of graduates of the 6th as well as the failed of the 7th," revealed Artur Dombo, quoted by the newspaper Notícias.
Dombo said there is a lot of pressure on the system, hence to meet the demand, 36 classrooms will come into operation next year, 15 in KaMubukwana district, 20 in KaMavota, the most pressured areas, and one in KaTembe.
