No layoffs at Tmcel after all?

The mobile phone company Tmcel dismissed this Thursday, the possibility of laying off, still this year, about a thousand workers.

In a press release, the company explains that it has been carrying out a workforce downsizing process since 2018, which the workers have voluntarily joined.

"When Tmcel was formed, the workforce totaled 2086 workers, coming from the extinct companies TDM and mCel. In the first phase of this resizing process, Tmcel expects to soon have about 1700 workers at its service," stresses the statement without presenting any deadlines for this.

The source adds that after the end of the first phase, Tmcel is planning to start a second resizing of the workforce and negotiations are currently underway with the company's committee.

"For this resizing, the workers have voluntarily adhered to the process, through early retirement, compensation and the attribution of incentives. It is important to mention that the whole process has been conducted, taking into consideration the principles of humanism and voluntary adherence to early retirement," says the source.

It should be noted that, following a recent meeting between representatives of Tmcel and the Planning and Budget Commission of the Assembly of the Republic, information was released that Tmcel would lay off 1000 workers in 2022, which gave rise to various interpretations.
