Eight people died and seven others were injured as a result of a road accident in Maputo province on Wednesday.

The accident, involving a semi-collective passenger transport vehicle, occurred on the N1, in the area of 3 de Fevereiro, in the district of Manhiça, according to "Notícias."

The head of the Public Education Section at the Maputo Traffic Police, José Novela, points to speeding as the main cause of the accident.

He also said that the car involved was heading in the Maputo-Gaza direction.
