The Matola Judicial Court rejected Renamo's appeal on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence of alleged electoral irregularities, reports Sala da Paz.

"Therefore, on behalf of the Republic of Mozambique, the Judicial Court of the district of Matola decides not to grant the appeal filed due to insufficient evidence regarding the irregularities invoked," reads the court's order.

Renamo has filed an appeal with the Matola district court because, according to the party, there were irregularities at all levels during the voting process and the tabulation of results.

Renamo's front-runner in Matola Municipality claims to have won the local elections in the city of Matola and says he has notices that prove his party's victory.
