Road traffic has now reopened on the bridge over the Nkalatchana River, on National Road Number 3 (N3), which connects the administrative posts of Impaputo and Goba, in the district of Namaacha, Maputo province. The connection will now be made via a metal bridge.
This is a link that had been interrupted following the rain that fell last February and the structure now in place is 60 meters long and capable of supporting up to 30 tons.
Valued at around 56 million meticais, the bridge only allows one vehicle to pass at a time.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Cecilia Chamutota, called on users to observe the established capacity limit so that the infrastructure can last for many more years.
"We would like to thank the users for their patience during the works, since the road connects the production areas and beyond," said Chamutota.
