The Minister of Industry and Trade, Silvino Moreno, held this Wednesday, in the city of Matola, Maputo province, the inauguration of the natural gas-based thermal power plant of Limak Cimentos.
This is an infrastructure with capacity to generate 10 MW of clean energy for cement production, further reinforcing the principles of sustainability and promotion of alternative energies.
In the occasion, the holder of the Industry and Commerce folder said that it is the government's expectation that the inauguration of the natural gas thermal plant will be reflected in the reduction of production costs with an impact on the price of cement for the consumer.
The inauguration of the thermal power plant, in a private investment, cost about 3.5 million dollars and in the first phase it will produce 4.8 MW.
The inauguration ceremony of this enterprise, was attended by the Secretary of State in Maputo province, Vitória Diogo and the ambassador of Turkey in Mozambique, Huseyin Aksoy.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Industry and Commerce is challenging the private sector to transform the raw material available in Maputo province, for the diversification of industry and the Mozambican economy.
Silvino Moreno believes that the private sector's investment in local raw materials will allow for greater exploitation of the regional market and the free trade zone on the African continent that Mozambique has joined.
Moreno believes that in this way, Mozambique will save foreign exchange and reduce the volume of imports, thus giving greater value to local raw materials, one of the assumptions of the National Industrialize Mozambique program.
