In the first half of this year, more than 400 complaints against the services provided by banking and electronic money institutions operating in Mozambique were filed with the Central Bank, according to a statement published today by the institution and consulted by MZNews.
In total, the Bank of Mozambique (BM) received 436 complaints, and most are against banks and micro-banks. A total of 344 complaints were made against banks, 90 against micro-banks and two against a mobile wallet service.
The bank that leads the list of complaints is Millennium bim with 125, and the bank with the fewest complaints is United Bank for Africa (UBA), with two. From the WB note, it is understandable that the larger the customer portfolio of the bank the greater the number of complaints. In this case, Millennium bim has more than a million clients and UBA has between 100 and 200 thousand clients, although the bank with the smallest number of clients is BNI - less than a thousand - with three complaints.
As for financial institutions, the BM does not give an estimate of the number of customers, but mentions that M-pesa, from the Vodacom mobile phone network, was the only one targeted, with the registration of two complaints.
