FPF interdicts Dragon Stadium due to vandalism

FPF interdita Estádio do Dragão devido a vandalismo

The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) decided, on Tuesday, to ban the Dragão stadium after acts of vandalism occurred at the end of the game between the host team and Sporting (2-2), on February 11.

The stadium will have to stop hosting two games, and in total Futebol Clube do Porto is forced to pay a fine of 25,245 euros.

Other elements of security and support to FC Porto's promotional actions were punished. Namely: 1,530 euros for João Paulo Vieira de Sousa (Security Coordinator of FC Porto SAD); 918 euros for Ricardo Manuel Vasconcelos Carvalho (FC Porto SAD Field Director) and Carlos Miguel Alves Carvalho (FC Porto SAD Security Director). Manuel Silva, Cláudio Filipe Nova and Carlos Elias (Bluejackets) were suspended for 75 days and fined 3,060 euros each.

It should also be noted that Matheus Reis, Sporting's defender, was acquitted by the CD of the offense of assault.

These punishments were disclosed after the opening of an inquiry process into incidents that took place during the dragons' reception of the lions, such as the throwing of ball catchers and metallic, projectile-like objects, or the behavior of sports ground assistants and elements of the publicity activation team.

FC Porto announced, however, that it will appeal the punishment of a two-game ban at Estádio do Dragão, determined by the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation.
