Government says new energy law will boost private investments

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, considers that the approval of a new electricity law may boost the mobilization of the private sector for the energy area.

For Filipe Nyusi, who was speaking last Friday at the inauguration of the electricity grid in the administrative post of Mitande, Niassa province, "it is crucial to approve a new electricity law in order to induce a new dynamic in the energy market.

And in this context, according to the Head of State, the synergies between the public and private sectors will allow the Mozambican state to achieve the goal of universal access to energy, bringing light to all Mozambican homes.

"By the end of December 2021, we had 44% of the population with access to electricity and the goal is to reach 64% by 2024," said the head of state, quoted by Lusa.

Meanwhile, Filipe Nyusi pointed out that the context of climate change that the world is going through requires Mozambique to develop a sustainable energy policy, exploring the multiple renewable sources.
