The votes for the general elections on October 9 began to be counted as soon as the polling stations closed. In the meantime, some schools in the districts that acted as polling stations lacked electricity.

In fact, according to the electoral bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity in Zambezia province, some schools had no electricity until the day before the vote. In other words, the entire voting process up until the start of the vote count took place without the power being restored.

The situation was reported to the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration in the province before polling day, but there was no resolution. To get around the situation, escorts resorted to using flashlights to ensure that the votes were counted.

Similar situations occurred in Niassa province. Where there was electricity, there were no light bulbs.

More cases of ballot box stuffing

Throughout yesterday afternoon, a few more cases of ballot box stuffing were reported at some polling stations in some districts.

In Maganja da Costa, the chairwoman of Landinho's polling station 04 was caught introducing pre-voted ballots. She is a teacher and her name is Filomena Cristóvão.

At the Charre Basic School in Mutarara, the district delegate of Podemos reported that a man of apparently 70 and a woman of almost 38 were carrying backpacks containing large volumes of ballot papers already filled out in favor of Frelimo. Locally, there were men walking around the venue with briefcases.

At the Malua 2 School polling station, a teacher who voted in four polling stations was neutralized. He was posing as an observer and was detected by a Podemos delegate. The citizen was taken by the police to the station.
