The presidential candidate leading the biggest challenge to the election results in Mozambique since the first elections in the country, Venâncio Mondlane, postponed this Thursday (02), the announcement of the details of the new demonstrations called "Ponta de Lança", citing technical reasons and other unforeseen events.

In a post on his Facebook account, Venâncio Mondlane asked his supporters for their understanding, explaining that "the postponement is a gesture of respect and that he wants the message to come across clearly and thoroughly".

On Monday (30), Venâncio Mondlane accused the government of launching chaos and terror in order to then blame the opposition and gain legitimacy to repress the protests. For this reason, he called on Mozambicans to celebrate New Year's Eve by singing the national anthem, reiterating the continuity of the demonstrations.

"The demonstrations will not stop," said Mondlane, stressing that he was open to dialogue in order to overcome the crisis.
