USAID announces $4.5 million for Mozambican companies

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will make 4.5 million dollars available to Mozambican small and medium-sized enterprises in the central and northern zones.

Of the total, Gapi will contribute 500,000 dollars, and will grant credit and financial assistance to companies in Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Sofala.

Another part of the amount, which falls to USAID, will be made available through the SPEED program.

The fund will be used to support companies in the process of recovering from the effects caused by the recent cyclones and covid-19 pandemic.

The fund will provide access to credit for companies in the agricultural and food sectors, with priority going to women- and youth-owned businesses, reports Notícias.

The fund is designed to cover 3,000 local companies over the next two years.
